On December 28th, 2022, in a r/MountainDew Reddit post, a user named u/Fleezus7 showed high-quality photographs of Cobra Cane, Baja Passionfruit Punch, Baja Caribbean Splash, Summer Freeze with its Zero Sugar variant, a canceled DEWcision 2023 promotion and a prototype Snap'd. On December 19th, 2022, PepsiCo filed a trademark for this flavor, revealing its name to be Baja Passionfruit Punch. As previously mentioned, the names for both flavors are placeholder names due to the leaked renders of the flavor being too low resolution for the flavor name to be discernable. On October 11th, 2022, on the Dew Drinker Discord, it was first leaked of two new pink and purple flavors: Baja Caribbean Splash and Baja Passionfruit would re-release alongside Baja Blast, and Baja Blast Zero Sugar in part for an unnamed Summer promotion. Its tagline was ' DEW with a Blast of Natural & Artificial Passionfruit Flavor.'
